The Moine Thrust Belt contains many spectacular examples of imbricate thrust and duplex structures with individual formations repeated many times. In the northern part of the thrust belt the lateral extent of the Cambrian quartzites, particularly the Pipe Rock Formation, appear to have been shortened through many tens of kilometres by the formation of duplexes on scales from centimetres to tens of metres. The most dramatic of these are on Arcuil (Arkle), Foinne Bheinn (Foinaven) and on Conamheall (see No. 51).
