Beinn Hòb (Ben Hope),

oil on canvas,
91cm x 61cm,
Iain White, 2017,
£385

This painting is an interpretation that builds on abstraction to create a version of the landscape between Foinne Bheinn (Foinaven) and Beinn Hòb (Ben Hope) looking from the ridge across the floor of Coire Lurgainn and the lower slopes Conamheall to Beinn Hòb (Ben Hope) in the distance. It simplifies and generalises the characteristics of this mountain landscape but retains a feel for its structure and spatial arrangement. Indeed, it is arguable that both of these properties are more evident in this treatment.
